Clement, we need to talk!

This was me speaking to myself after ruminating on the responsibilities and challenges that will be coming with the new role I have been employed for at SafeBoda Nigeria. “This particular water I was stepping my foot in isn’t so familiar” but the truth is, I have evolved in my career by stepping into not so familiar roles, learning, growing and adding value.

Periodical confusion is a part of the package that comes with being a person like me. I find it funny when people give comments like: “Clement, I envy you. You’re able to do a lot of things and I admire your versatility.” Not taking away the good in this, there’s also a chance to be tossed to and fro alongside numerous mind games and battles if you don’t have a firm sense of identity. You’ll find yourself asking yourself the “who am I” question too many times.

My identity isn’t in my work or the job I do. Those are channels to express the life of God which is in me. My identity is in Christ and I understand that I shine the light of God wherever I have been placed at every given time in my life.

This life of God-We carry am for head like SafeBoda helmet

So, the next place and project is SafeBoda Nigeria. A lot of people who know me closely always thought I was an ambassador for the brand because I have been a big fan and customer of the company before I got the opportunity to even participate in the growth of the company as a member of the team.

I asked myself a couple of times how my current job description and how this phase really matters in the big picture. But if there’s anything I am confident about, it’s the fact that God is intentional about me and all that concerns me, so I find peace in God’s promises, past experiences and the hope of glory which I have.

My second day on the job, while riding a SafeBoda home, I got two words from the Holy Spirit. “Bravery and Humility”. The Holy Spirit further explained to me how these words matter in the new phase I am in and how I should keep trusting him like I have always done. One of the best places to do your thinking if you live in Ibadan is when you ride a SafeBoda. *wink wink*

I am learning to learn again. Working with a bunch of amazing and intelligent people who are all contributing towards ensuring that everyone who lives in the city of Ibadan can take rides and make deliveries seamlessly.

I am also learning more about data management and how pivotal data is in business growth. I am also getting exposed to how the tech ecosystem works and how interdependence plays a role in growth and scaling for start-up companies.

I’ll close this piece with one of my favourite lines from Teni’s Uyo Meyo: “nothing is too small and nothing is too big”. What really matters is how we handle all God has placed in our hands per time.
